2023 Calera Mt Harlan Chardonnay
Founded in 1975 by Josh Jensen, Calera began as a singular vision set in the limestone-rich slopes located in the Gabilan Mountains of California’s Central Coast. Jensen drew on his experience in Burgundy, planting high-elevation vineyards in limestone soils on Mt. Harlan with the conviction that terroir would determine the wine’s character. In 1973, Calera was acquired by the Duckhorn Winery Company.
Crystalline pale in appearance, this wine boasts aromas of brioche and bright lemon zest. Within are fresh lifted notes of baked Asian Pear, Meyer Lemon, crushed chalk and delicate layer of caramel with a salty edge. There is a high glycerin content to this richly designed and highly complex Chardonnay leading to a long finish.
