The 2023 Duckhorn Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the best wines from this producer and appellation I have tasted to date. It celebrates five decades of winemaking excellence. The color opens with a deep plum, almost opaque. Like the color of the wine, the aromas out of the glass are deep, complex and classic rustic Oakville: black cherry, blackberry, notes of dark chocolate and stone minerality. The flavors are refined and have a sense of place with a full-bodied mouthfeel, round tannins, layers of dark fruit and minerality that lift the wine to a long, beautiful finish. You may drink this beauty now with decanting but will age for 10+ years.
