2023 Sonoma Cutrer, The Cutrer Vineyard, Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Sonoma -Cutrer was founder in 1974 by Brice Cutrer Jones who planted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the cool reaches of Russian River Valley. William “Bill” Bonetti was Sonoma-Cutrer’s first winemaker who was a believer in a Burgundian approach with barrel fermented Chardonnay. Today there are six vineyards located in the appellations of Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley. In 2023 Sonoma-Cutrer was purchased by the Duckhorn Portfoio who had acquired it from Brown Forman.
This Chardonnay starts with a chiffon yellow color followed by beautiful sweet, toasted oak and a slight minerality in the nose. It is richly designed and full-bodied in style with creamy, yellow custard overtones. It has a lush mouth-feel with an exotic core that remains balanced and elegant through the finish.
