The 2023 Duckhorn Napa Valley Vineyards Merlot is a true expression of this varietal from Napa Valley. Duckhorn produces Merlot that is notably consistent in quality and approachable in its youth. The wine consists of 78% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec, and 1% Cabernet Franc completing the blend. In the glass the color is a beautiful dark plum. The wine opens with vibrant aromas of raspberry, black plum, and baking spices accented with milk chocolate. On the palate it is lush, vibrant and layered with juicy tantalizing red fruit. The tannins are polished adding purity, vibrant acidity and are gracefully balanced. As the wine draws to a finish, there is a medley of red fruit and spices that linger for minutes and will keep you wanting to come back for more! Drink or hold for 5-10 years.
