Torres, Altos Ibericos Reserva

Torres is one of the most prominent winemaking names in Spain, having made their reputation primarily in the Penedès area of Catalunya, Spain. In 2005, the family decided to open a winery in the town of Labastida, in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa region. One of the most significant growing areas in Rioja, it is known for the production of high-quality wines. The name “Altos Ibericos” is a nod to the historic enclave, Alto Otero, that houses the winery.

Region: Rioja DOCa

Varietal Composition: 100% Tempranillo, mostly from Rioja Alavesa old vines, some more than 90 years old.

Tasting Notes: Appearance is fairly opaque, dark purple/ruby. Youthful and clear. Aged in French oak barrels, aromas of dark black cherries dominate, with hints of baking spices. Modern style, sleek, tannins are restrained, fairly soft on the palate. Excellent with grilled red meats, hard cheeses such as Manchego, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Grana Padana.
