2014 J Schram Noirs

One of the recognized jewels of California are Schramsberg’s J Schram sparkling wines. Jack and Jamie Davis restored this historic 19th century estate and winery in 1965. The J Schram tier represents only 2% of Schramsberg’s annual production and remains the iconic flagship bottlings of the estate. It is only crafted in the finest vintages, sourced from the best base wines and aged for eight months in the bottle within their estate hillside caves in Diamond Mountain

This cuvée is composed of 81% Pinot Noir and 19% Chardonnay sourced from vineyard sites in Marin, Anderson Valley, Sonoma and Napa. On entry you are welcomed by aromas of freshly baked sourdough bread followed by a cascade of fine bubbles. Upon the first sip, this wine reveals its lush, richly designed and full-bodied nature. Finely detailed flavors of white nectarine, poach pear, ginger and quince mingle together and are coupled with a subtle minerality creating a harmonious mid-palate. There is a complex creaminess of almond butter and a marzipan texture that adds a luxurious touch to each sip. The finish is extremely long and memorable. This wine embodies great craftsmanship and has a timeless appeal that will continue to evolve over time.
