Sierra Cantabria, Unica Reserva

Vinedos Sierra Cantabria was started by the Eguren Family in 1995. The goal from the start was to produce the finest wines they could possibly make from their best vineyards that produce distinct and unique expressions of Tempranillo, the main grape in their wines.
The single vineyard Sierra Cantabria Unica is a select blend of the best Reserva tier wine that the winery has, using a strict blending process and barrel treatment. Made from mostly Tempranillo, with a small amount of Graciano and aged for 24 months in new French and American oak. The color is bright ruby with expressive aromas of baking spices, black cherry, blackberry, peppery accents, and a hint of earthiness that adds an interesting complexity. The tannins are polished showing a softness through the mid-palate with ripe plum, cassis, blackberry, and touch of vanilla. There is enough acidity to carry this wine through to the finish and lure you in for another taste. If you would like to expand your world of wine and especially Tempranillo from Rioja Region of Spain, this is a stunning value and should not be missed.
