2016 Anthony Road Art Series Riesling, Finger Lakes, NY
The painting used for the Art Series Riesling label is original artwork by the co-founder of Anthony Road Wine Company, Ann Martini. Ann painted this work while in college at Nazareth College (Rochester, NY). The Artist Series Riesling was simply delicious and shows the aging potential of the best-made Rieslings from Finger Lakes, New York. According to information from the winery, the fruit is crushed and pressed in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is by indigenous yeast populations. In the glass, the color is dazzlingly golden. With a highly complex nose, the aromas initially reveal lemon peel with hints of petrol and wet stone. The palate is broad and a continuation of the wine’s complexity. There are notes of citrus with a refreshing acidity and terrific balance. It is an off-dry and a very pretty Riesling. This wine has many more years of aging potential although it can be enjoyed now.
