2016 Champagne Louis Roederer Blanc De Blancs
The Louis Roederer House has remained an independent, family-owned company and is managed by Jean-Claude’s son, Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage. The family owns 618 acres of grand and premier crus vineyards in the Grand Est region of France.
The grapes for this pure 100% Chardonnay based champagne are grown on hillside plots in the Avize terroir within the heart of the “La Côte” estate. This champagne is matured on lees for five years. The 2016 Louis Roederer Blanc de Blancs is a sublime expression of Chardonnay from this maison’s prized Grand Cru vineyards. The 2016 vintage captures the elegance and purity that define Roederer’s style. In the glass, this champagne radiates with a pale golden hue and a fine, persistent mousse. This wine is about refinement with delicate aromas of toasted hazelnuts and buttered bread. The palate is seamless and elegant with whispers of Asian pears, candied citrus, lemon oil and gingerbread cookies. Hints of crushed limestone and saline add texture and depth to the long, lingering finish. This is another timeless gem crafted by the house of Champagne Louis Roederer.
