2016 Chateau D’Anna, Cuvee Louis D’Or

This wine was brought to my attention by a wine guide, Paul Krucker, that I met in Bordeaux. He lives in Sauternes and is well aware of the hidden gems within this region. Chateau D’Anna, Cuvee Louis D’Or is a small family parcel in Barsac planted with a majority of Semillon grapes on soils of limestone and white sand. The 2016 has caramelized citrus fruits, dried apricots and a layer of marzipan cream. It remains light on its feet and backed by delicate, juicy acidity. This was a good effort for a relatively unknown Barsac that may be a little challenging to locate.
