2016 J. Lohr Cuvée Pau

The inspiration for crafting this wine is the grand cru wines from the Bordeaux appellation of Pauillac. The composition of this blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Cabernet Franc, 13% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec aged for 18 months in French Oak barrels. Beneath the opaque core is an abundance of ripe, macerated black berries with hints of graphite, garrigue and saddle leather. Savory notes of earth are intermixed with dark cocoa and sweet oak. While the tannins are round and well integrated at this point in time, the wine will benefit from a few more years of bottle aging.
