2016 Patz & Hall Hyde Chardonnay

For decades, James Hall and Don Patz had cultivated relationships with some of the premier growers in Sonoma crafting world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The who’s who of growers include Larry Hyde, Gail, Steve and Joe Dutton, Lee Hudson, Kent Ritchie and a host of other celebrities. Now, winemaker Steve Hall is continuing the tradition at the winery on his own with “cutting–edge techniques” in winemaking.

Fruit is sourced from Larry Hyde Vineyards in Carneros and is some of the most coveted in all of the valley. This 100% Chardonnay is aged in 100% Burgundian Oak barrels and fermented with all native yeasts. The deep golden hue reveals a bouquet of field flowers and peach blossoms. There are caramelized yellow citrus fruits with marzipan, Mandarin orange, and a whiff of almond paste. Typically, this Chardonnay is more restrained on release, but this gem is flaunting its strengths and remains focused. Within the core there is still plenty of tension showing its future potential. The wines from Hyde Vineyards remain some of the most age-worthy Chardonnays anywhere on the planet.
