2017 Cloudy Bay Te Wahi Pinot Noir

Cloudy Bay was founded in 1985 by David Hohnen, who became one of the first five winemakers in Marlborough. Captain James Cook discovered sedimentary deposits from the sea in a flooded valley and described it as a cloudy bay. Nikolai St George joined Cloudy Bay in 2020 as senior winemaker after serving at Matua and Geisen wineries. He has been recognized with four Winemaker of the Year awards.

This premier Pinot Noir is sourced from the Bannockburn, Bendigo and Lowburn sub-regions within Central Otago. The Te Wahi Pinot Noir beams of a brilliant ruby color and a bouquet of delicate loam and dazzling red orchards fruits. The middle core is silky and well-built with cassis, cherry puree, and nuances of volcanic rock. This leads to a touch of minerality in the background. The expansive personality of this wine continues for minutes with a long finish.
