2017 Jean Claude Dagueneau Cuvee d'Eve Pouilly Fume
Jean-Claude Dagueneau is a descendant of legendary Loire winemaker Didier Dagueneau. His efforts have brought world-wide recognition to the appellation of Pouilly-Fume. In 1995 Domaine Fournier acquired this hillside vineyard, within the heart of Pouilly-Fume, from Jean-Claude. They have continued to create an exceptional expression of Sauvignon Blanc with this bottling. A bit more full-bodied than one might expect, the oak barrel-aging is not obtrusive, but lies just under the aromatics and the surprisingly creamy, rich texture of the wine.
Color: Pale gold, with light amber highlights.
Aromatics: Honey with a hints of spring flowers and acacia.
Taste Profile: Follows the aromas; medium-full entry; expansive mid-palate with creamy, lemon meringue undertones; complex and rich with rounded edges. An impressive and memorable finish.
Food Pairings: Roasted Pork Loin, Roasted Capon, richer/oilier fish such as salmon or sablefish (black cod).
