2018 Brewer Clifton Machado Santa Rita Hills: Pinot Noir

In the early 1990’s, Winemaker Greg Brewer became enamored with the crystalline sandy soils and the salty air from the ocean blowing across this parcel of land in the Santa Rita Hills. He formed a partnership with winemaker and co-founder Steve Clifton.

Greg and Steve started working with the Machado family on this site in 2008. They employ 100% whole cluster fermentation and use neutral French Oak barrels for aging. This rich ruby Pinot Noir has an explosive bouquet of garrigue, field flowers, forest floor and sweet bay. The aromas are captivating and fill the room. This sultry wine has macerated Morello cherries, wild strawberries and dried red raspberries that layer your palate with concentration and silkiness. This alluring and expressive Pinot Noir maintained its composure three days later. Wow!!
