2018 Chateau Montviel Pomerol

Chateau Montviel was founded by Catherine Pere-Verge in 1985. The total vineyards are 25 acres in size and planted to 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc in sub-soils of clay, gravel and sand. Montviel is a composite of four different parcels with only the top 12 acres being used in producing Montviel. It is aged in 100% new French Oak barrels.

The 2018 Chateau Montviel has an opaque hue with profound aromatics of fresh flowers, lavender and tilled earth. It has a medley of liqueur-like black fruits, Asian spices, dark mocha and espresso along with a nicely textured backbone. The fruit is juicy and mouth-filling and is complemented with sweet, finely grained tannins. It is ready to go on opening, yet it is certain to reveal more over time. This is another one of those great values in Pomerol from the 2018 vintage.
