2018 Domaines Schlumberger Grand Cru Kessler Riesling, Alsace

The Kessler Grand Cru basin rests on sandstone soil from the Vosges Mountains. The erosion has produced red-like substrates mixed with sand and clay along with generous amounts of mineral deposits.

This pale yellow wine is the alter ego to the 2017 Kessler Riesling. The wine is more restrained on opening with delicate aromas of cinnamon and baking spices. It is mineral-driven with finely crushed stones and chalk. There is more elegance with salinity, ginger, lemon balm, tart green apple, basil and wet stones that all add to its invigorating structure. This wine is destined to last for years.
