2018 J. Lohr Pure Paso

The J. Lohr Pure Paso Red is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Petite Sirah, 2% Syrah and 2% Malbec which is the second vintage for this delicious blend. The color is deep ruby with light ruby edges. On the nose you get a fresh whiff of perfume followed by an offering of bold aromas of baked black fruit, toasty oak, and fresh mint. That minty element carries to the palate, where you taste more of the black fruit, milk chocolate and a hint of graphite flavors surrounded by an ample amount of acidity and tannins slightly on the chalky side. The mouthfeel is satiny, balanced, and sleek tannins with a finish that lingers for minutes. This J. Lohr Pure Paso Red should age well for 7 – 10 years. The red from Paso Robles represents an amazing value. Congratulations to Jerry Lohr, the Lohr family and the winemaking team for creating wines of distinctive character and world class quality from the Central Coast of California. By Perry Miroballi
