2018 Ogier Lirac Lou Camine Rouge

After more than 160 years, Ogier has grown to become one of the leading producers in the Rhône Valley. Most of its land holdings are in the Southern Rhône area, producing wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Lirac. The Estate also makes small but exceptional bottlings from parcels within the most notable appellations of the Northern Rhône - Crozes-Hermitage and Côte Rôtie. Ogier’s wines are noted for finesse, elegance, and freshness. The wine we tasted for our publication showed its pedigree and delivered so wonderfully on all points.

The 2018 Ogier Lirac “Lou Camine” Rouge is deep cherry red in color. The aromas are a beautiful bouquet of ripe red fruits, Bing cherries, baking spices, a hint of leather and a slight presence of minerality, which give the wine a freshness and lift. The palate is medium to full bodied with flavors of lush red fruit, a mouthfeel that is creamy with moderate acidity and peppery accents that hold it all together, giving balance to the wine through to the finish. This bottling is excellent and simply delicious. Bonus…a stunning value from the Rhone Valley!
