2018 Patz & Hall Hyde Vineyard, Carneros, Napa Valley Chardonnay

Patz and Hall Wine Company was founded in 1988 by Donald Patz, James Hall, Anne Moses, and Heather Patz, and is dedicated to the production of hand-crafted wines. The four are long-time Napa Valley residents and wine industry professionals, with a wide variety of experience. Patz and Hall produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines from selected vineyard sources in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Monterey counties. The Patz and Hall method is to work closely with each of their growers to achieve a unique expression of the vineyard site and deliver wines that reflect both the site and their vision for great wine.
The 2018 Patz & Hall Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay is elegant, processes power and shows its pedigree with classic Hyde Vineyard traits of white flowers, citrus and creamy lemon. The color displays a beautiful yellow with pale straw hues. The nose is rich focusing on apple, green Anjou pear, with notes of toast, oak, almond, a hint of vanilla bean and stone minerality. The palate has a beautiful structure, weight, and vibrant acidity, that gives this wine lift leading to a finish with notes of chalky minerality, and a touch of sea salt which carries through the pleasantly long finish. This beautifully made Patz & Hall Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay could use at least a few years in the cellar for this wine to reach its stride.
