According to Robert Biale this is “one of the oldest and grandest Zinfandel vineyards of them all situated in the heart of Sonoma Valley.” It dates back to the 1880’s and the Civil War. Currently, the ranch is managed by Joel and Morgan Peterson. This wine tries to be elusive and is a bit intellectual at this point in time. The core of delicate, warm black fruits are dusted with Indian spices, dried herbs and a touch of white pepper. There is a subtle creaminess to this wine that is balanced with finely grained tannins and fresh acidity. It remains elegant and long on the palate. By W. Peter Hoyne
