2018 Robert Hall Red Blend

A small-business visionary, Robert Hall had a life-long passion for wine and the winery lifestyle. He viewed all his business success as a well-earned opportunity to venture west in search of the perfect landscape, and the perfect partner to help him realize his true dream.
Acclaimed winemaker Don Brady has been the creative force behind their award-winning wines since the beginning. Through his hands-on approach, Don has been pivotal in bringing acclaim to Paso Robles wines, and instrumental in elevating the valley’s status as a premier winemaking region.
The 2018 Robert Hall Paso Red is a blend of 43% Petite Sirah, 21% Syrah, 19% Zinfandel, 10% Petit Verdot, 4% Grenache, and 3% Mourvèdre. The color is deep purple with aromas of baked blueberry pie, savory herbs, a hint of smokiness, and a whiff of tobacco. The wine is full-bodied; on the palate are flavors of baking spices, blackberry, and ripe plum with finely grained tannins on the mid-palate and enough acidity to carry through to a long spicy finish. This is not a shy wine at 15% + in alcohol. I found this type of blend and alcohol level tends to be over the top, jammy and out of balance. That is not the case with the Robert Hall Paso Red, showing a delicious full mouth-feel. This wine will hold up to hearty dishes like meat loaf, short ribs, or baby back barbeque ribs, or just enjoy it on its own on a cool night.
