2019 00 Highland Pinot Noir Willamette Valley

The Double Zero Winery was established in 2015 by husband and wife team Chris and Kathryn Hermann. They have a firm grasp on how to craft world class, Burgundian-styled Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Chris is a lawyer who specializes in environmental and land use law. They recruited the French talent of Pierre Millemann from Nuits-Saint-Georges with a primary focus on using traditional techniques. Additionally, they are working on a project to make Corton-Charlemagne in the Cote-d’Or of Burgundy along with an endeavor in Champagne.

This beautifully balanced Pinot Noir has a classic Burgundian aromatic of grilled game, earth, loam and forest floor within a framework of sweet spices and incense. The fruit is profound with a wealth of macerated cherries and black raspberry foam that are finely integrated into a silky mid-palate and long finish. It is reminiscent of a grand cru from the Cote d Nuits.

The 2019 VGR Pinot Noir has a ruby brightness with delicate aromas of earth and underbrush. Macerated cassis, rhubarb and cranberry undertones flow across the palate and are backed with plenty of freshness.
