2019 Castiglion del Bosco, Campo del Drago, Brunello Di Montalcino

Situated in the province of Siena where the renowned area of "Brunello di Montalcino" is found, Castiglion del Bosco encompasses approximately 4,450 acres of land, 125 of which are vineyards with plans to plant 15 more acres. The farm is located between the historic towns of Buon Convento and Montalcino. Given the truly magnificent geographical position of the estate, perched on a hill looking down onto the surrounding valleys, exposure is optimal resulting in wines of excellent quality. These are very exciting wines, new and classic at the same time. The vineyards include 150 acres of premium Sangiovese grapes, handpicked by farmers since the 18th century.

For those who love Brunello as I do, the 2019 vintage is outstanding and worth exploring. Among the best is the Castiglion del Bosco 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Campo del Drago, a Sangiovese that is a great example from an exceptional vintage. The color is deep garnet ruby with loads of viscosity. This wine delivers enticing aromas of black plum, boysenberry compote, melted dark chocolate, earthy tones and a hint of tobacco and minerality. The palate is a striking balance between muscular and elegance, showing vibrant freshness from pronounced acidity. The core is lavishly layered with fruit, minerality and fine tannins that remain polished through a long finish. A delicious and exceptional Brunello that would be perfect on any holiday season table. It will be better in a few years, but is definitely built to age up to 20 years or longer Bello e memorabile!
