2019 Chappellet Calesa Vineyard Chardonnay

The wines from Chappelet have consistently been some of my favorite California wines for over 25 years. The wines age well showing youth and complexity through the years. For this review I will take you through an amazing journey of three different varietals that were so good that I wish for our readers to seek out and try some of these beautifully made wines from Chappelet. Shall we begin?

The Petaluma Gap is a relatively new AVA. This was my first experience in tasting the Chappellet Calesa Vineyard Chardonnay. I was very impressed at how good it is. In the glass the color is a lovely, pale gold with nice viscosity. The aromas are so alluring, you can’t stop swirling and smelling! Lovely white floral and tropical accents leap out of the glass showing orange zest, ripe yellow grapefruit, lemon cream, baking spices and hint of minerality. The flavors combine bright citrus, mango and fresh minerality all wrapped in a creamy mouthfeel with acidity providing a lift. This beautifully made Chardonnay has a long and delicious finish. An outstanding achievement!
