2019 Cuvaison Adda Los Carneros Pinot Noir

Established in 1969, Cuvaison produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown exclusively on its estate vineyard within Carneros in Napa Valley. The vineyards are cooled by fog from the San Pablo Bay. Cuvaison has been profoundly influenced by their owners, the Schmidheiny family of Switzerland—fourth-generation vintners who purchased the winery in 1979. Since the beginning they have been dedicated to a philosophy of producing vineyard-driven wines.

Named after the family Matriarch who led Cuvaison in its early days, the 2019 Cuvaison Pinot Noir, Adda is a blend of their best estate-grown Pinot Noir. Made up of three distinct clones: the more floral and delicate Calera, Wädenswil 2A and the thicker-skinned acid-driven clone 828. The color in the glass is a sparkling deep ruby. Aromas of this deeply concentrated wine offers notes of ripened black cherry, baked blueberry, and rich pie-filling fruit along with hints of black tea and violets and clove. The palate is layered, rich and opulent with silky tannins and the right amount of integrated acidity. Steve Rogstad and the winemaking team at Cuvaison continue to elevate the quality of their wines by achieving more consistency with each vintage.
