2019 Dehlinger Goldridge Russian River Pinot Noir

The Dehlinger vineyard, family operated since 1975, comprises 45 acres of rolling hillside vines on a mixture of Goldridge and Altamont soils in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. A landmark Octagon House, also dating from 1975, stands atop a hill near the entrance to the property. Varietals grown and produced are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, with a combined annual volume averaging 7000 cases. The winery is owned by winemaker Tom Dehlinger and his wife, Carole, who live on the property. Two of their four children, Eva and Carmen, have been involved full-time with the operation since 2008.

The 2019 Dehlinger Goldridge Pinot Noir was a highly enjoyable wine. The wine showed a richness that was so delicious; its complexity and texture were a wonderful expression from Russian River Valley. In the glass the wine shows a bright ruby. The nose was appealing with gorgeous aromatics of baked red fruit, sweet spices, sandalwood, and a dusty characteristic. The palate is richly layered with red fruit and polished tannins that are lifted by bright acidity. The finish is long and pleasant with complexity of fruit, spice and a slight minerality that goes on for minutes, ending with a delicious aftertaste. The Dehlinger Russian River Valley Goldridge Pinot Noir is a beautiful representation from this producer. However, the wines are somewhat hard to get with only small amounts of select wines being distributed to restaurants with the majority sold through their allocated list. Either way, get on their list and experience this pleasure.
