2019 Del Dotto Family St Helena Mountain Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, American Oak

Dave Del Dotto is a retired real estate and television infomercial specialist. After a visit to Napa Valley with his wife Yolanda in the late 1980’s, they purchased a Frank Lloyd Wright residence in Rutherford, Napa Valley along with a 17-acre property, planting varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese and Merlot.

This is a 16 barrel blend of separate lots of Cabernet Sauvignon aged in American Oak. This is a deeply ruby rendition of a well crafted Cabernet Sauvignon from the west side of the Mayacamas Mountains in St Helena. The influence of American Oak in this Cabernet Sauvignon is obvious and adds to its overall sex appeal. It has an expressive bouquet of shaved coconut and brown sugar spices that leap from the glass. Immediately appealing with undertones of fresh red and blue orchard fruits overladen with maple butter cream, melted fudge and milk chocolate shavings. There is a subtle complexity to this wine with ground pencil shavings and delicately roasted coffee complemented by fine grained tannins in the background.
