2019 Domaines Schlumberger Grand Cru Kitterle Riesling, Alsace

The Schlummerger family owns 49 acres of this prestigious grand cru parcel. This higher altitude site has vines planted on steeply slanted slopes. The vineyard is sunny from dusk until dawn and is composed of porous, volcanic sandstone sub-soils.

This wine is crystalline in appearance with a hint of yellow on the edges. The bouquet is bright with white flower blossoms intermixed with oyster shells. There is nice tension on the entry with concentrated flavors of lemon oil, granite, green and yellow citrus, poached apples and garden herbs. The penetrating flavors have an underlying juiciness and plenty of freshness that keep this wine bright through a long finish.
