2019 Goosecross State Lane " Holly's Block" Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Goosecross is an estate winery steeped in Napa Valley history. They take inspiration from the land they farm and the fruit they grow. Goosecross proudly take their name from the pair of geese that made the estate their home.
Goosecross's journey has grown and evolved through the years, from farmers and grape growers in the 1970s to winemakers and vintners in the 1980s. They take pride in crafting wines that express a sense of "place", giving voice to the vineyards and regions in which they were grown.

Holly’s Block, is named after vintner-co-owner Christi Coors Ficeli's grandmother. Located near the house, the quarter acre of vines is given special attention by the entire staff, with harvest taking as many times as necessary to pick each vine at its optimal ripeness. The three best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from Block D, “Holly’s Block, were selected to blend in this wonderfully crafted offering.

In the glass the wine exudes elegance from the aromas to the finish. It was an intellectual exercise in wine tasting! There are aromas of ripe black cherry and plum, cocoa laced with sweet tobacco, fig and roasted coffee bean. Warm black currant is lifted out of the glass. The palate is full-bodied, muscular and has definition with tannins that are gripping, but maintain a creamy juicy mouth-feel. The finish goes on for minutes. This beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon from Goosecross will age beautifully for 5 – 10 years in the cellar.
