2019 Joseph Drouhin Gevrey-Chambertin

In 1880 Joseph Drouhin at the age of 22 settled in Beaune and established his own wine Domaine. His son Maurice followed afterward, and later Robert Drouhin succeeded him in 1957. Daughter Veronique is credited as being the “guardian” of the Joseph Drouhin style, supervising the vinification of the wines. She oversees winemaking at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon.

The 2019 Drouhin Gevry-Chambertin is sourced from long term partners with 30% of the fruit from Premier Crus. Bright ruby in color, meaty aromas of black cherry, black raspberry and licorice evolve together with notes of spice, nutmeg, and leather. Nuances of mushrooms and damp earth emerge over time. With extra richness and complexity from the Premier Cru fruit, the layered flavors reflect the aromas in a long and persistent finish. More evolved and delicious when tasted again the next day.
