2019 Merry Edwards Meredith Estate Russian River Pinot Noir

Merry Edwards Winery was founded in 1997 and produces critically acclaimed terroir-driven Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blanc using site-specific viticulture in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations. Over two decades, Merry Edwards assembled a stellar collection of vineyards and with her meticulous attention to detail crafted Pinot Noirs of immense depth, elegant structure, and exceptional longevity. Her Sauvignon Blanc is among the most sought after in the world.

The Meredith Estate was Merry Edwards’s first vineyard project, a 24-acre abandoned apple orchard in the hills southwest of Sebastopol. She purchased it in 1996 and planted Pinot Noir there two years later.

In the glass the color exhibits deep ruby with purple edges. The nose starts with inviting notes of vanilla cream, blackberries, plum, and baking spices. The palate has an energetic mouthfeel which is elegant and refined. It has purity of fruit with silky tannins that are well integrated. The notes of brooding dark fruit and dark chocolate are held together with delicate acidity. It remains well balanced, with a finish that is bright and mouthwatering.
