2019 Post & Beam Cabernet Sauvignon

Post & Beam is the latest edition of new brands from the Far Niente Family of Wineries and Vineyards in Oakville, California, within the Napa Valley. It is “a name that pays tribute to the vintage barns that dot our rural countryside.” According to Andrew Delos, director of winemaking and winemaker Michael Accurso “the Post & Beam style focuses on the purity of fruit and fresh intensity. These are playful wines that revel in their juicy youth.” The Napa Valley Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon debuted in the Fall of 2019 at more approachable price points than most Napa Valley Cabernets. These seem to be younger siblings to the Far Niente wines.

This youthful, deeply opaque Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a juicy, inner self. The bouquet is inviting offering scents of dried violets and cassis. There are thick layers of blackberry cobbler and baked black plums integrated with hints of earth, cocoa and fresh acidity. The tannins are supple and harmonious. As described by winemaker Michael Accurso, there is a fresh, juicy personality to this wine that makes it immediately pleasurable on opening, but it will also stand the test of time in the bottle.
