2020 Chateau Latour A Pomerol

(Wine sampled from tubes) This wine is 100% Merlot and the vineyards are planted in gravely-clay and loam soils within Pomerol. “Latour à Pomerol, which draws its name from the tower that adorns this charming château, was acquired by Mme Loubat, who also owned Château Petrus, in 1917.” Jean-Pierre Moueix has farmed the vineyard since 1962. This wine has a saturated deep ruby hue with aromas of violets and fresh Asian spices. The mixture of crushed black and red berries gives way to savory black tea, sandalwood and minerality along with an underpinning of thyme and sage. It ends with finely grained tannins and nice freshness.
