2020 Connetable Talbot

The Connetable Talbot is arguably one of the best second wines of the Medoc. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the color in the glass is dense, dark garnet color with purple edges in its youth. The aromas reveal notes of ripe red cherries, violets, toasted oak and a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied, the palate shows great depth. The tannins are persistent but silky, combined with rich black fruits that give the wine remarkable balance. There is enough acidity leading the 2020 Connetable Talbot to a long finish. I really enjoyed this wine and it should drink well on release. This wine will gain some additional complexity with a few years in the bottle.
