2020 Cuvaison Hedon Chardonnay

Established in 1969, Cuvaison produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown exclusively on its estate vineyard in the heart of the world-renown region of Carneros in Napa Valley. Cooled by fog from the San Pablo Bay, the rolling hills of this certified sustainable estate has produced distinctive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for over 30 years. Cuvaison has been profoundly influenced by their owners, the Schmidheiny family of Switzerland. They are fourth-generation vintners who purchased our winery in 1979. Since the beginning, they have been dedicated to a philosophy of producing vineyard-driven wines, Cuvaison employs block by block farming methods and a hand-crafted vineyard-to-bottle winemaking approach The resulting wines are balanced and complex, showcasing the distinctive characteristics of this cool climate estate. Cuvaison is part of Two Estates Wine Collective, which also farms Brandlin Vineyard, a Napa Valley estate on Mt. Veeder.

The 2020 Cuvaison Hedon Chardonnay is made from 100% Chardonnay from Napa Valley, Los Carneros designation. The wine spent 18 months in French and American Oak and only 13 barrels were produced with the designation as a small lot. This is an impressive wine! Classic Los Carneros. The golden color glistens as you swirl it in the glass. There are aromas of apricot, fresh sliced pear, and lemon zest with a hint of honey and distinctive minerality. On the palate, the wine is expressive and expands with a delicious mouth-feel The amount of acidity and weight is perfect, giving this chardonnay a wonderful balance through the finish. A memorable Chardonnay. Kudos to Steve Rogstad and the winemaking team at Cuvaison.
