2020 Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot

Founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has been crafting classic Napa Valley wines for nearly 40 years. This winemaking tradition has grown to include seven meticulously farmed Estate vineyards, located throughout the various microclimates of the Napa Valley. Focused on quality and consistency, these estate vineyards are an essential element in making wines of distinction. Pioneering and perfecting Merlot as a premium varietal, Duckhorn Vineyards now makes several elegant Merlot and distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings that showcase its premium vineyard sites.

We are always excited each time panel tastes Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot. The 2020 Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot is the ultimate expression of Napa Valley Merlot that is refined and elegant. A blend of 98% Merlot and 2% Malbec from the legendary Three Palms Vineyard aged 18 months in 100% French Oak. The color is a beautiful dark garnet with purple edges. There is a bouquet of rose petals, freshly picked red berries, baking spices, cigar box, and dark chocolate. The palate is lush and layered with silky tannins, medium bodied and delicious fruit flavors. The acidity is woven neatly through this complex wine leading to a long finish of fruit and minerality. Each component is integrated into the delicious mouthfeel. I love this wine to drink now but it will age gracefully for 10 years plus. The Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot is a must find for anyone who appreciates wine with the exquisite taste of the finest Napa Valley Merlot.
