2020 La Crema Saralee’s Vineyard RRV Chardonnay

Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke purchased La Crema in 1993 and produced the first vintage in 1994. Two years later a new winery was constructed in the fog-shrouded, redwood-lined Russian River Valley appellation. Jackson’s daughters, Laura Jackson Giron and Jenny Jackson Hartford, along with his son-in-laws, Rick Giron and Don Hartford, took on leadership roles at La Crema, managing the day-to-day operations and representing the winery out in the market. With a renewed vision, resources, and leadership, a new era had begun.

Located in the heart of the Russian River Valley, Saralee’s Vineyard comprises some 200 acres of vines, six of which are planted to Marsanne and Roussanne. The 2020 La Crema Saralee’s Vineyard Chardonnay opens with a yellow hue in the glass. Complex and layered aromas of white blossoms, lemon zest, fresh cut green apple, Asian Pear, stone minerality and a whiff of toasted oak. On the palate this Chardonnay offers some power and structure with a lovely texture, moderate weight and a creamy core. The bright acidity brings lift and balance, leading to an elegant, refined ending that keeps fresh through the finish. The 2020 La Crema Saralee’s Chardonnay is delicious, pure, and memorable.
