Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is one of the second wines of the property. Created since the 2012 vintage, it has a pure and direct character. The grapes are sourced primarily primarily from gravelly plots of land near to the Gironde estuary, a good environment for Cabernet-sauvignon.

(Wine sampled from tubes) The 2020 La Graiffon de Pichon Baron is a blend consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The color in the glass is deep purple all through to the edges. This wine is a serious and a superb second label from one of the most prestigious estates in the Medoc. The aromas out of the glass show dark berries, cassis, floral notes of violets, espresso bean and sweet toasted oak. The flavor is straight forward with a beautiful definition and soft on the palate. It has a wonderful texture with a velvety middle that remains rich and powerful. The tannins are present, giving it enough lift and acidity to take this wine to a long caressing finish. The La Graiffon de Pichon Baron should be better when bottled and released.
