2020 Maritana Kent Ritchie Vineyard RRV Chardonnay

In 2017 longtime vintner Donald Patz, a top producer of Russian River Valley Chardonnay and Pinot Noir introduced his first vintage. His three-decade association with Sonoma and Russian River Valley grape growers has given him access to some of the top vineyard sites in the valley. Utilizing these vineyard sites, he and his team are crafting compelling Chardonnays and delicately perfumed Pinot Noirs. Mr. Patz decided to focus his Chardonnay and Pinot Noir entirely on the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. These two grape varietals from the Russian River Valley are Mr. Patz’s focus and among his favorite wines.

The Kent Richie Vineyard is a location growing Russian River Valley Chardonnay. Mature vine from Wente-Clone Chardonnay produces intense and complex wines. The Maritana Chardonnay comes from a very small hillside piece called the “Don P Block”. This is a complex Chardonnay with shades of yellow in the glass. Within are aromas of yellow fruit, pineapple, lemon, and fresh cut mango and minerality that is fresh and clean. The palate has a subtle energy, has a lovely texture, and purity that comes through. The balance is impeccable, refreshing mouth-feel leading to a long, delicious finish. The Maritana Kent Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay will age gracefully and gain more depth with 3-5 + years in the cellar.
