2020 Pagodes De Cos

The 2020 Pagodes de Cos Rouge is a blend of 58% Cabernet, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. The color in the glass is deep garnet with purple edges. The aromas dance out of the glass with pretty scents of boysenberry, cassis, a hint of charred wood and truffle. The medium bodied palate is rich and concentrated with black fruit flavors, gritty tannins and herbs. There is enough fresh acidity to carry through to a lengthy finish. The 2020 Pagodes de Cos is another one of the wines that I am curious to taste again after bottling. My guess is that with 5-7 years of aging, the tannins will settle down, become more integrated and show balance. Over time, this wine should express more of the Sainte-Estephe character. A beautifully expressive second label from Cos d’ Estournel!
