2020 Paul Buisse Chinon

Paul Buisse is a fourth generation winemaker who took control of the winery in the 1980’s. The vineyards are located in the appellation of Touraine around the city of Tours. Upon his retirement in 2010, he sold the 173 acre estate to the Chainier family who have maintained the vineyards with sustainable agriculture.

This Chinon is 100% Cabernet Franc from 10-50 years year-old vines grown in flint and clay soils. There is an underlying yellow chalk and alluvium ore sub-soil that dates back 90-94 million years. The wine is aged in stainless steel for one year before release. This Cabernet Franc is unlike any New World rendition. It has a delicate purple rim that speaks to its youthful personality with dark black plums, blueberries and dried spices. While the tannins are ripe they are not noticeable. This wine is graceful on its feet as it dances elegantly across your palate with precision as a ballerina.
