The 2020 Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG is produced from the region near Dorilli, between the Mediterranean sea and the Iblean mountains. This territory is well respected and is the only DOCG region in all of Sicily. The name of this Sicilian DOCG derives from ‘cerasa’, cherry in Sicilian. The wine is produced from 60% Nero d’Avola and 40% Frapatto planted in sandy, red sub-soils. This wine from Planeta has a brilliant red ruby shadow with aromas that speak to you in the glass. The bouquet is extremely floral with ripe red cherries, fresh red raspberries, creme de cassis and a hint of underbrush in the background. The core has a touch of minerality, yet remains extremely elegant throughout with a purity of fruit that extends well into the back of your palate. The freshness of this wine is apparent, but the wine still remains focused on the concentration of succulent red fruits. The finish is delicate as this wine flows effortlessly to its conclusion.
