2020 Theorem Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc

Proprietors Kisha and Jason Itkin first visited the Napa Valley in 2008 from their home in Houston. While on one of their subsequent trips to the valley, they found themselves falling in love with the wines, the scenery, the region’s history, and the lifestyle.

Along with their renowned winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown, their philosophy begins with using the highest quality fruit—only the best of their yield makes it into the barrel. The result is an elegant wine that is a pure expression of the site, soil, and vintage.

This release marks the third vintage of Theorem Sauvignon Blanc. In the glass the color reveals pale gold that sparkles. A concrete egg was incorporated into the fermentation process. Concrete is porous like oak, but it does not impart any flavor. Instead, concrete helps to preserve the minerality in the wine, which was very apparent in the flavors. This is a beautifully complex wine! The aromatics are soft, lifted by crisp pineapple, white peach, lime zest, stone, and a hint of herbs. On the palate, the wine erupts with layers of tart grapefruit, honey, and jasmine. The flavors are concentrated, layered with a creamy silky core with the right amount of acidity lingering into a long caressing finish. I loved this wine! It may be hard to get, but worth seeking out!
