2020 Vincent Careme Clos de la Roche Vouvray

Vincent Carême, was raised on this property. At 14 years of age, with oversight from his grandfather, he crafted his first wine. After studying viticulture Vincent embarked on working harvests in Sancerre, Muscadet, Anjou, Alsace, and Champagne. He also acquired experience working with Chenin Blanc In South Africa. He returned to Vouvray founding Domaine Careme with his wife Tania in 1999. Their 37 acres of consists of three different blocks of vineyards spread across three villages.

The soils consist of limestone “tuffeau”, flint and clay situated on steep slopes overlooking the Loire. The small Clos de la Roche parcel is positioned just below the famed Les Clos vineyard. There are aromas of spring flowers in this delicate Vouvray. Peach, citron and lemon zest shavings burst forward intermingled with some mouth-watering acidity. The underlying elements of chalk and minerality keep your attention until the end.
