2021 Anthony Road Riesling, Finger Lakes
John and Ann Martini came to Anthony Road along Seneca Lake in the '70s from Baltimore, with little winemaking experience. They built a family business in one of the more extreme wine-growing regions of the country. Anthony Road Wine Company uses only grapes grown in the Finger Lakes region to create their wines. An array of wine is produced – from dry to dessert – with a range of tastes designed to please connoisseurs and casual aficionados alike.
This Riesling is one of the best I’ve tasted from this region. Golden hues appear beautifully in the glass. The aromas are distinctive and lovely. Notes of honey, stone, ripe apple, yellow stone fruit and a hint of citrus enliven the senses on the nose. On the palate the flavors are a wonderful balance of fruit and acidity. It is complex, concentrated, and has great depth. This wine has some of the characteristics of the great German Reisling from the Mosel Valley. The long finish is crisp, bright and offers a sensation of mouthwatering deliciousness. One of the top Rieslings from Finger Lakes to seek out.
