2021 Dutton Estate Kendall’s Reserve Dutton Ranch RRV Chardonnay
Dutton Estate Winery is in the Green Valley AVA in the Russian River Valley located near the small, charming town of Sebastopol. Once a dominant apple-growing region, Sebastopol is now a destination hide-away and home to the winery’s founders, Joe and Tracy Dutton.
Joe and Tracy’s agricultural heritage is deeply rooted in Sebastopol, as Tracy’s great-grandparents began farming apples in the 1920’s. Joe is co-owner of Dutton Ranch, which was founded in 1964 by his parents. Today, Dutton Ranch farms 1,300 acres of grapes and 250 acres of apples, all within the Green Valley-Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations.
The color shows glistening yellow with straw hues. There are aromas of golden delicious apple, melted caramel, creamy vanilla, toasted oak, and liquid minerality. Elegant, full-bodied, slightly off dry, moderate acidity that is deftly balanced and offers a delicious creamy mouth-feel that is enticing you for more. The lovely journey continues with flavors and acidity that is integrated and carries this beauty all the way through to a long finish. For those of us who love a well-made full throttled Russian River Chardonnay that will age very well, this is one of those wines!
