2021 Dutton Estate Old One-Sixteen Dutton Ranch RRV Chardonnay

In 1964, Warren and Gail Dutton purchased a parcel of land just outside of Sebastopol, California intent on farming French Colombard grapes and apple orchards. Joe, their son, continued to farm the ranch and maintain the apple orchards.

Joe met Tracy as she worked on her family’s ranch next door. As a married couple Joe and Tracy Dutton had a vision of the future, purchasing a 20-acre Chardonnay vineyard in 1995 that they named Dutton Estate Winery. The property is located within the soul of the Russian River, Green Valley AVA. The vineyard was farmed by Joe and Warren Dutton. Daughters Kyndall, Kylie and Karmen are all involved in various aspects of the winery.

The Old One-Sixteen Chardonnay is the fourth addition to their Chardonnay portfolio. The fruit is sourced from a vineyard near their tasting room bordering Highway Old One-Sixteen. Fermentation for this wine takes place in concrete eggs. This powerful wine showcases an abundance of compact orchard fruits of Honey Crisp Apples and Bosch Pears. Although it has an exotic core with a creamy texture, it continues to stay in balance. It sails across the palate into a long finish.
