Headed by family matriarch Jane, the Pisoni family has been farming for three generations in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Today, maverick vintner Gary Pisoni who has grown grapes with uncompromised practices in the appellation for over thirty years is joined by his two sons, Mark and Jeff. Mark is the farmer of the family and oversees the meticulous care of the vines at the Pisoni, Garys' and Soberanes Vineyards. Jeff is the winemaker who crafts distinctive wines that reflect the family's estate properties.

The Soberanes Vineyard is the latest joint venture between the Pisoni and Franscioni families. The rocky soil of Soberanes Vineyard located in Santa Lucia Highlands produces wines of distinct character showing succulent flavor and vibrant acidity. In the glass the color is pale yellow. The aromas build as you swirl the glass revealing lemon zest, fresh cut pear, hint of candied ginger, and chalky notes of crushed stone. On the palate is where this Chardonnay shows its stuff with layers of creamy lemon custard, lovely texture, and weight with a hint of vanilla and toasted oak. It is lifted by vibrant acidity that weaves through the palate with precision carrying through to the finish that goes on for minutes. Over time this wine will develop and gain more depth and balance. A wonderful and memorable Chardonnay from Lucia Vineyards!
