2021 Robert Biale R.W. Moore Vineyard Zinfandel, Coombsville, Napa Valley

Planted in 1905 this wine is nearly 90% Zinfandel. It is the oldest vineyard within southern Napa Valley’s Coombsville Appellation. It lies in close proximity to San Francisco Bay and is influenced by a cool maritime climate.

This Zinfandel is among my many favorites from the Robert Biale portfolio. This wine has a youthful energy with medium ruby edges and an assortment of blackberries, macerated blueberries and spiced black plums melded together with dark cocoa and roasted coffee. The core is silky, very expressive and complex with some savory earthy notes that constantly keep your attention. The tannins are ultra fine and sweet. The mouth-feel is absolutely delicious and lingers for several minutes.
